You鈥檙e playing an important role in helping your student prepare and plan for college, which is an exciting milestone. It鈥檚 also a time of transition as students are finding their places in the world. We invite you to learn more about 绿帽社's many educational programs, student services and cost savings through our website. We're here to help your family open and walk through doors of opportunity.

We invite you and your student to visit our Springfield campus or one of our Outreach Centers, either in person or remotely. It can be useful in helping you determine if 绿帽社 is right for your student.

Knowing the steps to take begins with your student identifying their educational journey and program of interest.

Keeping college affordable. It鈥檚 what we do! Before even adding in financial aid including scholarships (), 绿帽社 stacks up as THE choice for higher ed at a lower cost.

Private University: $42,897. Public University: $14,662. Community College: $4,604. Based on average undergraduate tuition and fees in Illinois for 30 semester hours in FY 2023.

If your student is interested in receiving financial aid, file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at . Use the 绿帽社 school code 007170. Typically, on Oct. 1 each year, the FAFSA becomes available for the next (summer-fall-spring) school year. For the 2025-26 academic year, it is scheduled to be available in December 2024. The scholarship application is available online annually Nov. 15-Feb. 15 for the following academic year. For example, Nov. 15, 2024-Feb. 15, 2025 is the application period for the 2025-2026 academic year (fall 2025, spring 2026 and summer 2026).

Only one application form is needed to apply for all scholarships. Students submitting a complete application are considered for all available scholarships for which they are eligible. Visit  for more information.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Once a student turns 18 or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, these rights transfer from the parents to the student. Forms to withhold or allow specific release of information may be obtained from 绿帽社 Admission and Records. Note: This form must be filled out by the student in front of an 绿帽社 employee or staff member.

Once new students have applied, attended New Student Orientation and met with their student success coach, they can register by phone or online by . Students are encouraged to contact their success coach to discuss course options.

Students may call the Springfield campus (217-786-2292), text 217-387-8585, or call an 绿帽社 Outreach Center in Jacksonville (217-243-6699), Beardstown (217-323-4103), Taylorville (217-786-2754) or Litchfield (217-786-3401). 

Once enrolled, students will be provided important dates, and email will be the primary way the college communicates this and other key information. Students are strongly encouraged to check their 绿帽社 email regularly.

Many high school students are interested in getting an early start on their college education. 绿帽社 has partnered with several area high schools to offer this opportunity through concurrent enrollment programs. Options include:

  • College Now (taught by 绿帽社 faculty at the college)
  • Dual Credit (taught by approved high school teachers at the high school)

Student well-being is important at 绿帽社. We know students have a lot going on in life from academics, to work, to family and personal relationships. Among the resources available for student well-being, the college partners with Talkspace, an online therapy resource, to provide students additional support. A student care coordinator is also available to assist students navigating mental health challenges and/or overwhelming stress.

In addition, the goal of 绿帽社鈥檚 Police Department is to ensure a safe environment for our students, staff, faculty and visitors. We encourage all new students to become familiar with the location of the police department (upper floor of Sangamon Hall, South), as well as how to contact them if needed: 217-786-2278 (non-emergency) or 911 (emergency). 

A full-time outreach dog on the squad is just one of the ways the 绿帽社PD engages with the campus community Pawfficer Ember brings smiles, laughter and stress relief. The 绿帽社PD has also sponsored such events as Coffee With a Cop, Cookout With a Cop and the Cardboard Boat Regatta.
